Polish Food in Wrocław: Pierogi Class, Food Tour or Beer Walk?
5 min read
To cook rather than just taste, book the pierogi cooking class. It runs in a host’s home for up to five people, takes about two and a half hours and ends with a shared meal. If you would rather eat across several places and walk between them, take the private food tour. For drinks, there are beer and vodka walks.

The pierogi class
The host teaches the dough, the traditional filling and some modern ones, then different ways of shaping pierogi, and the group eats what it made. Ingredients are included, you get a booklet of recipes to take home, and the listing marks the class as wheelchair accessible; since it takes place in the host’s home, ask about the entrance before booking. It is at Wincentego Pola 3 in Karłowice, about 3 km north of the Rynek as the crow flies, and the host says transport to the workshop is not provided. The host’s two golden retrievers join the class, which matters if you are allergic to dogs or uneasy around them.
The private food tour
This one has three lengths. The 2.5-hour version covers two places with dumplings, meats and other specialities plus a soft drink, cake and coffee or tea; soup and beer are not part of it. The 3.5-hour version has three venues with three kinds of dumplings, soup, a beer, cake and coffee or tea. The 5-hour premium version adds a choice of 8 beers or 8 vodka shots. The listing advises eating only breakfast beforehand and telling the operator about allergies or a vegetarian diet. It meets at Plac Solny.
Drinks
The vodka walk visits pubs and restaurants and promises up to five Polish vodkas with traditional snacks. The craft beer walk gives 8 beers and 2 appetizers per person at two pubs. Its listing names children under 18 and pregnant women as not suitable, so this is not the one for a family with teenagers. Both start at Rynek 14.
The 2-hour beer tour is the one to pick if you want history as well. It starts at the Piwnica Świdnicka restaurant by the Town Hall, passes St Elizabeth’s Church, the Fencer Fountain and the university, and stops at the Market Hall last before returning to Piwnica Świdnicka, with a visit to a regional brewery. The brewery tasting is paid separately, in cash in złoty at the brewery; the listing gives 9 euros per person for three glasses and 13 euros for six. The tour price is for your group, not per person.
